Terms of use
RDMO services
RDMO is operated by IT-SERVICES and requires the setup of users. For this purpose, the following user data is collected and stored by the RDMO service: Name, First name, Email address, Affiliation (Institute / Organisation), Account name (LDAP ID)
Authentication takes place via the service of ORCID. The use of the institution's own login ID is realized by registering this connection via "Institutional Account" (Shibboleth). Here the afore mentioned user data from the or Shibboleth environment are provided. The use of Shibboleth is protected by the privacy processes of the operators concerned.
RDMO user profile data are used exclusively for RDMO purposes and within the realm of the operating institution (RUB) and remain there.
Use of RDMO and personal data of users
Within RDMO a user is either assigned to certain projects or is the ‘owner’ of projects. A user is member of RDMO projects and her/his contributions are stored in these projects. In a project context, personal information may be disclosed, e.g. when requesting storage resources, the project name and, if applicable, the person responsible for the project are queried, when project statistics are requested, e.g. by department heads / research managers of the participating institutions when generating information, e.g. for a data management plan or report.
For any such queries, appropriate authorization by the RDMO service provider is required.
In RDMO the projects are separate, i.e. a user can only query projects and information if she/he is a project participant. The import and export of project data is only possible on the basis of appropriate access rights.
An administrator (superuser) can manage and handle all project data, but also has a special obligation to use her/his powers only in the context of his administrative activities.
Projects that collect or use special protected personal data for research purposes
Projects that collect and use sensitive personal data for research purposes must, in relation to their project, consider separate measures and procedures as to how they provide this information. Although herein RDMO provides a basis by separating projects and users, this is in-sufficient in many cases. Therefore, these sensitive personal data may not be stored in RDMO.
4) Note the IT service agreement at RUB (Rahmen-Dienstvereinbarung) - Applies to RUB employees only.
Users of RDMO who have write access rights are advised that no data is entered which can be used for personal purposes, for the purpose of behavior or performance control, for official appraisals, for disciplinary measures or as a basis for determining the state of health (see Section 3 paragraph 5 of Rahmen-Dienstvereinbarung).
